CHAIRMANS NOTE

We wanted to give you an overview of some of the work the committee has been up to over the last 12 months as well as the significant achievements by our teams and players across all age groups. We have seen quite a number of small, but important, changes to add to the overall service to our club members. We hope you will agree that we are moving forward and using our limited resources appropriately.

Club house & Café

  • All club house rooms, hallways and floors were repainted

  • Installed two new flat screen TVs to broadcast club news and provide better atmosphere in Café

  • De-cluttered the café and installed new high stools and shelf table

  • Added two new windows in café with security shutters to provide a view out to the astro-pitch

  • Deployed new modern look & feel to our club web site

  • Planned & Executed another very successful Shankill FC Champions league & Crinken cup

  • Our U13 boys took part in a 2-leg, cross border friendship match with Shankill Utd. of Belfast. Both teams travelled to each other’s clubs and, in addition to the games, a range of other activities were laid on for the visitors. It was a huge success and we hope to repeat it next year

  • We held our first annual Pitch’n’Putt competition for the kids in December

Coming soon/Next steps

  • We will soon see the opening of Stonebridge Park pitches having lobbied & liaised with DLR council throughout the year

  • We will continue working with Shankill GAA, and other local sports clubs, to lobby and liaise with the DLR council on their plans to build all-weather facilities in some local Shankill schools and in Shanganagh park.

  • As always we need to ask for your help in the coaching & managing of the teams, and also with the committee work, so please speak to us if you would like to help out.

Team achievements

We have, once again, seen some wonderful performances by many of our teams and individuals during the year. Suffice it to say they have all done us proud and we are very happy with the progress. Unfortunately, we also lost some teams this year and we are doing all we can to find ways to rebuild and develop those teams.

Here is just a flavour of some of the excellent team and individual performances & achievements during the season. Very well done to all.

  • U14B

  • U18 (incl. 5 of our U17)

  • Won majority of their games and showed huge commitment to the club, and each other, by sticking together even though their league had challenges and was eventually disbanded. The team will start at U19 in Jan

Finally, on behalf of the committee, I would like to wish our players, parents, coaches, managers, caretakers and all club members who give so generously of their time throughout the year, a very happy Christmas and New year. The club could not operate as well as it does without your invaluable support. We hope you enjoy the festive break and look forward to seeing everyone in the new year.

Kind regards

Dave Mulcahy - Chairman Shankill FC
