Under 18 Girls Vs Liffey Valley 19-10-14
Sunday seen the girls play their 2nd match of the new league . After narrowly losing their 1st game 1 nil away to a strong Dundrum team it was important the girls bounced back.
The game started of well with Shankill doing all the pressing with Aoibh and Sinead both having a couple of chances. So it was totally against the run of play when Liffey valley scored a fine goal with a great shot that Katie could do nothing about. Even after this the girls never dropped their heads and a fantastic performance from our captain Casey kept the girls going.
1 Nil half time. 2 nd half started with a strong wind now in our favour and it only seemed like a matter of time before the girls scored. Aoibh got the ball and drove into the box and then cut back out on to her favoured right foot and curled an unstoppable shot into the top corner 1_1.
The girls could sense victory now and kept up the pressure , collecting the ball in the middle of the pitch and sending in a high ball that Jess controlled brilliantly on the chest and sent in a perfect pass to Aoibh who sprung the offside trap and powered a shot home that the keeper couldn't hold. 2_1 and this was no more than the girls deserved. What a team performance this was, the girls battled right to the end.
Shankill team Katie,Sarah Jane, Megan Jamie, Casey, Michaela, Jess, Sinead, Aoibh, Becky Zoe,Ellana ,Kyra and Rebecca.Keep up the great work girls.
Sunday 19th October 2014 – Shankill U13 Girls Vs Liffey Valley Rangers (KO 11:45 in Lucan)
Another memorable performance by the girls on a stormy day away to Liffey Valley Rangers. Luckily we won the toss and got to play with the strong wind in the first half which enabled us to keep the ball in the oppositions half for much of the first 30 mins. It wasn’t long before Ava scored our first goal and it was followed up by 4 more before the half time whistle.
An additional 3 goals in the second half meant we won the game comfortably but Liffey Valley made sure they kept us under pressure and scored 2 goals of their own. With goals from Ava Egan, Pia Simmons, Leah Mulcahy and a disallowed goal from Emily Bourke, it meant the traffic was largely one way, even against the wind in the 2nd half.
Our team kept their shape very well and remained in their positions throughout the match. This shows us clearly that the training and coaching is really working and the girls are learning how to command the game more effectively. We will certainly come up against stronger opposition as we move through the fixtures and I am sure the team will rise to those challenges also. For now, we can just feel proud of the girls for their latest performance and success. Well done guys

Welcome back for the 2014-15 season.
Shankill F.C. would like to welcome everybody back for the 2014-15 season this year we will have over 20 teams competing in the DDSL, SDFL. LFL & Metropolitian Girls Leagues, plus we will have our Panthers section which caters for over 50 boys & girls aged 5 & 6.
2013-2014 was a very successful season on and off the field. On the field we won 3 league titles, 3 teams got to the semi finals of the SDFL cups with the Under 14 Div 2 team winning the Major Cup. After tricky starts to the season both of our Under 12 teams cemented their places in the Div 1 & Div 2 leagues in the SDFL. The new format for the small sided teams proved very succesful and with each player getting the opportunity to play in every position the benefits will be huge when our teams start playing competitive football. In April 4 teams travelled to Wales to play in the Prestatyn Cup and they came home with 5 trophies. Both of our Girls teams had very succesfull season and this has prompted us to start a Girls Academy starting 16th of August 2014. We also had our most succesfull Bertie Messitt Street Leagues to date with over 225 players competing over 2 weeks.
Off the field our new all weather training facility was completed beside the clubhouse and this ensures continuity in training throughout the winter months. At our AGM this year our commitee was re-elected to continue the work they have started in making Shankill F.C. a very successsfull community club.We have struck a deal with Stanno Sports to supply us with new Kits and a change in colour and design for the coming season and over the coming months the old kits will be phased out and the new ones phased in. If anybody would like to sponsor a team this year please contact Tim Cullinane at 0872181086
Our subscribtion fees have increased this year to include all add ons such as shorts and socks and paying for floodlight usage for our new all-weather and the rental of the Rathmichael all-weather for training for the coming season the subcribtions this year start at €85 for Panthers and €185 for Players with discounts for more than one family member.
As per usual we ask for anybody that can help the club in any way to put yourself forward the work load for the committee is becoming harder each season and it is not only managers and coaches we are looking for. If you can help with admin, looking after the cafe, maintaining and upgrading the clubhouse or taking photos or supplying match reports from the games for our website please contact any commitee member.
We look forward to the coming season with great anticipation and also ask you to follow us on facebook were news will be updated regularly.
